What should I include in my design brief?

Share the product's intended use, available sketches, reference drawings and confirmed dimensions. Identify component interfaces, preferred materials and any manufacturing constraints supplied by your workshop. Mark unresolved measurements clearly so they can be discussed before the CAD work is scoped.

Which model and drawing outputs do I need?

Confirm whether your project needs individual part models, an assembly arrangement, dimensioned drawings or a combination of these. Agree the required file formats and drawing conventions with your manufacturer. Where relevant, identify the sections, component references and assembly views needed to communicate the design.

How should revisions be reviewed?

Nominate who will consolidate feedback and confirm the current design revision. Review the model arrangement and drawing details against your brief before issuing files to the workshop. Any engineering verification, prototype testing or compliance assessment required for the product should be identified separately in the agreed project scope.
